Pixel & Panic's Card of the Month: Pidgeot (Jungle 1st Edition)

Pixel & Panic's Card of the Month: Pidgeot (Jungle 1st Edition)

A Thanksgiving Tribute!

Hi Friends!

As we are in the heart of November and gearing up for Thanksgiving, we at Pixel & Panic have chosen a special Pokémon card as our Card of the Month.Tthe always magestical Pidgeot from the Jungle set, specifically the 1st edition. Why Pidgeot? It's simpler than you might expect! Pixel noticed its resemblance to a turkey, so we decided its a perfect fit for Thanksgiving!

The Beauty of Pidgeot

Pidgeot, a Colorless-type Stage 2 Pokémon, is known for its elegance and power. Illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, this card captures Pidgeot's essence with detailed artwork. With 80 HP and two attacks – Wing Attack and Hurricane – it's not just a visual treat but also a strong contender in the game.

A Dive into the Jungle Set

Released in June 1999, the Jungle set, as the second expansion of the Pokémon TCG, brought 64 new cards, including favorites like Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Snorlax. But this month, it's Pidgeot that's taking our spotlight.

Pidgeot's Gameplay Dynamics

Pidgeot's Hurricane attack has a unique twist: unless it knocks out the defending Pokémon, it returns them and all attached cards to your opponent's hand. This can swing the match in your favor, especially if your opponent lacks benched Pokémon.

A Nod to Thanksgiving

Our choice of Pidgeot as the Card of the Month is about more than its strength or rarity. It's about finding joy and humor in Pokémon. Pixel's playful observation connects Pidgeot to our Thanksgiving theme, blending Pokémon with the festive spirit.

Collector's Delight

This card, in both holo and non-holo variants, is a collector's gem. Its place in the Jungle set and its history in the Pokémon TCG make it a staple. Early prints without the Jungle set symbol, being errors, add rarity and intrigue.

Join the Fun

We invite all Pokémon fans and collectors to celebrate with Pidgeot this month. Share your experiences with this card and let's enjoy the nostalgia and fun that Pokémon brings, especially during this festive season.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Collecting!

As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, let's also share our love for Pokémon. Stay tuned for more from Pixel & Panic, and here's to a month of gratitude, fun, and Pokémon!

Honoring Native Cultures and Histories

This Thanksgiving, it's important for us to acknowledge the history of the holiday. It's a reminder of the centuries of colonization, cultural erasure, and injustice faced by American Indian and First Nations communities. We aim to use our platform for acknowledgment, education, and reflection on the true history of this land and its original inhabitants.

Embracing Friendship, Love, and Community

This Thanksgiving, we focus on friendship, love, and community – values deeply embedded in the Pokémon world. This holiday allows us to reflect on diverse histories and cultures and celebrate our shared humanity. We encourage our community to join us in using Thanksgiving as a time of unity, gratitude, and a deeper understanding of our diverse world.
